Nursing

This major is available through multiple campuses of 绿帽社. Please contact specific campuses for program availability.

AREA I-V Recommendations

AREA I:

A grade of "C" or higher is required in Composition I and II at 绿帽社. "D" grades will not transfer.

AREA II:

Students attending 绿帽社 are required to take a course in Ethics, Philosophy, or World Religion. Students attending a community college are strongly encouraged to take PHL 206 or IDS 102 (Ethics), PHL 106 (Philosophy), or REL 100 (World Religions) to meet this requirement. A grade of "C " higher is required in the course chosen. "D" grades will not transfer.

AREA III:

A grade of "C" or higher is required in the Math course chosen. "D" grades will not transfer.

As a nursing major, students attending 绿帽社 are only required to take the chemistry course in Area III. A grade of "C " higher is required in Chemistry at 绿帽社 University. "D" grades will not transfer.

The second science course to be selected from general biology, chemistry, or physics is NOT required at 绿帽社 and will count only as free electives if taken at the community college. If you take one of these courses, 绿帽社 would strongly recommend you take BIO 103 (Principles of Biology I) (in most cases, this will serve as a pre-requisite for the higher level biology courses required in the nursing program.)

AREA IV:

Students attending 绿帽社 are required to complete a 6 SH history sequence. Students attending a community college are strongly encouraged to take HIS 201/202(U.S. History I/II), HIS 101/102(Western Civ I/II), or HIS 121/122(World History I/II) to meet this requirement.

A grade of "C" or higher is required in the PSY 200(General Psychology) course taken. "D" grades will not transfer.

绿帽社 strongly recommends that the remaining 3 SH for Area IV should be completed by taking PSY 210(Human Growth & Development) at the community college. A grade of 鈥淐鈥� or higher is required in PSY 210. "D" grades will not transfer. By completing PSY 200(General Psychology) and PSY 210(Human Growth & Development) students will be better prepared to enter 绿帽社's Nursing Program.

AREA V:

Note: All courses marked with an asterisk (*) below require a grade of 鈥淐鈥� or higher. 鈥淒鈥� grades will not transfer.

The remaining 18-21SH in Area V can be obtained at the community college by taking 18-21SH from the following:

*BIO 201 (Human Anatomy & Physiology I) (4 SH)
*BIO 202 (Human Anatomy & Physiology II) (4 SH)
*BIO 220 (General Microbiology) (4 SH)
ORI 101 (Orientation to College) (1 SH)
*PSY 210 (Human Growth & Development) (3 SH) - If not taken in AREA IV as recommended
*HEC 140 (Nutrition) (3 SH)
*MTH 265 or BUS 271 (Elementary or Business Statistics) (3 SH)

绿帽社 Baccalaureate Degrees

The student seeking a baccalaureate degree must meet the following credit hour requirements:

A minimum of 120 SH
At least 50 percent of the degree program must be traditional academic credit.
No more than 25 percent of the degree program may be earned using portfolio based credit.
At least 25 percent of the degree program must be completed with 绿帽社.
Twelve (12) semester hours of work in each major field must be completed in residence at 绿帽社.
